CM Weldon was born out of a desire to bring a historical family name in the jewellery trade to an even wider and diversified client base from around the world.
My great grandfather James Weldon came to Dublin from Kildare around 1895. He started as a pawnbroker in Dublin and became a great judge of silver, jewellery and paintings. His son, my grandfather, James “Wally” Weldon became very well known in the antique business in the 1940s. He was renowned in the trade as being a superb judge of diamonds and Irish silver. He was also a great aviation enthusiast, spending the odd weekend flying, usually inverted, under various bridges.
My father Martin entered the antique business in 1970. Also an aviation enthusiast, he has never flown under any bridges or at least that is what he tells me. I am a GIA graduate gemologist who has worked in the business and trained in London, New York and Los Angeles. We deal with ethically sourced diamonds and coloured stones from the best sources from all over the world. Every piece of stock is carefully hand selected for world class quality.
